Christmas List

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? I really like to use paper for the kids. For adults I'll go either way, often depending on the gift.

2. Real tree or Artificial? It was real all the way until we moved to the desert in Vauxhall and the wide open prairies in Saskatchewan. At the point we moved south Mark declared it 'tree murder' to put up a real tree and so we went to the fake one. It doesn't smell as good, but I do get to enjoy it for longer.

3. When do you put up the tree? Right after American Thanksgiving.

4. When do you take the tree down? Usually the first week in January when we get back from galivanting.

5. Do you like eggnog? Not the boughten stuff in the carton, but the last two years I have been nursing a mild addiction to the homemade stuff that I found receipe for.

6. Favorite gift received as a child? Thumper Bear & my Doll House.

7. Hardest person to buy for? My brother-in-law Brian.

8. Easiest person to buy for? Aslynn. Girly pink stuff is so much fun!! And so easy to find.

9. Do you have a nativity scene? Yep. Four. One breakable and two homemade ones that I bought for the kids to be able to play with, and a large one outside on our lawn that my Dad made for us.

10. Mail or email Christmas cards? In the past we have always mailed. I love getting them in the mail so I reason that other people must like that too. For the past two years the student budget has restricted us to not mailing and I'm afraid that I didn't even e-mail.

11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received? .....

12. Favorite Christmas Movie? 'Elf', 'The Santa Clause',

13. When do you start shopping for Christmas? I would love to shop in October, but than I get to tempted to buy everyone another gift closer to Christmas. I try to wait until after American Thanksgiving.

14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? I don't remember.

15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? Black Forest Squares, Jana's Chocolate cups, Lindy's cinnamin twists, snowballs, and anything our moms make.

16. Lights on the tree? Yes, and the house

17. Favorite Christmas song? 'Mary did you know?', 'What Child is this', 'Welcome to this World', 'Away in a Manger'

18. Travel at Christmas or stay home? Travel. We are so far away from everyone and need that time with our family.

19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer's? Yep. Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet and Cupid and Donner and Blitzen, Rudolf

20. Angel on the tree top or a star? Angel

21. Open the presents Christmas Eve or Christmas morning? Our imediate family will open them here at home the night before we travel. This year we are doing the Nations on Christmas morning, The Janzen's on New Years day, and the Siebert's at an undisclosed time.

22. Most annoying part about this time of year? Crowds, I love to browse and take my time with shopping, (probably why I try to do it early), and I hate people pushing around me and not feeling free to really look at things.
Oh, and the expectation that I have to buy people really nice expensive things.

23. Favorite ornament theme or color? I love my tree to have a homemade feel. Most of the ornaments have been made for me by my grandma over the years. The boughten ones were made to look homemade and I love having the kids homemade ornaments from school on my tree. After all it's their tree too and I want them to enjoy it and feel proud that they got to make something for it.

24. Favorite for Christmas dinner? Turkey, stuffing, potatoes, gravy. (And Oil Fondue for Christmas eve.)

25. What do you want for Christmas this year? New hope and dreams for the coming years.
