Calgary Stampede Parade

Stampede Parade Day!

Len and I got up early as usual and reserved some remaining spots on the parade route for the family. This time, Pastor Dave and two of his kids came out to join us in our chalk drawing and ooh-ing and aah-ing. Dave's water-breathing dragon in chalk was impressively fierce! I loved watching Judah point things out to Ethan (it is his third Stampede, you know). The Snowbirds put on a great display as they flew overhead and wowed the crowd. I find it funny that we live only minutes away from where they train and only see them in other places. Jet and Cord from The Amazing Race were the Parade Marshalls this year - if you know who that is and watch the show.

This over here is the Budweiser Clydsdales, and below is a princess carriage for Aslynn...

We had a great time (as usual). We had a long walk back through Princes Island Park to get to the van in the brilliant sunshine after all was said and done. Judah said that his favourite part was the street sweepers that were dressed up as cattle and horses. The miniature horses and ponies pulling chuchwagons are always a hit, as are the chinese dragons and other foreign sights (sometimes we saw a little too much). Isn't that just the way things go? Here are a couple of shots of the kids in these happy days...

The pictures are pretty good considering they were taken without any viewfinder...
