Micah's First Concert

Last night we rocked out with some friends at Evangel Pentecostal in Edmonton. The concert had been sold out only three weeks after tickets became available. I bought on the first day. I asked Faith, "Do you think Micah would enjoy tickets to a concert for his birthday? He doesn't exactly get to keep anything afterwards." The answer that came back was this: "He's your son." Yeah. That answers the question.

He was stoked when he found out at his birthday in August. And now?

I'd say that's a look of joy.

Really. TobyMac was in town with Jamie Grace. We missed out on the Newsboys with Michael Tait in September, but this was just too good to pass up. He puts on a good show. Micah was singing along to so many of the tunes. We both were. Chris Coulstring and his two boys and his sister were with us.

And it was fun. At one point TobyMac and his guitarist and beat-box guru stepped out into the audience and went acoustic. We were only seven rows from the front in the centre, so sound was great and the show was visible. Well, Micah had to stand on a pew to see over everyone else, but he could still see!

 At the finale, they froze for almost a minute in position and then started up again. This was during the encore. Lots of fun. And they played all the favorites and Toby's newest hit Tonight started everything off. Jesus Freak completed the night. And afterwards Micah and I had to go get a Big Mac. How fitting.
