Baking Adventures

I decided that this year I wanted to send some baking to Micah's teacher's at Preschool. He attends at the Jack James High School where the Preschool class is used as guinea pigs for the high school students so that when they graduate they will have their level one Early Child Education. Anyways, because of this he actually has 15-18 teachers. I haven't actually counted. So I planned some baking platters. All was going well until I was making tart shells and Mark innocently commented that he likes butter tarts. (Innocent comment or hint we will never know) This comment drove me through dozens of cookbooks and finally onto the Internet to find a butter tart recipe. (How can I own that many cookbooks and not have such a basic recipe is beyond me.) So the tarts got made and put into the oven where they proceeded to boil over and cause my oven to smell for the next few days. By the time they were done I don't think there was much in them but the raisins and a little sugar. Oh well, better luck next year. Maybe I'll find a real recipe be then.

Hey Faith! Congrats on all your baking...so much work, but so fun to give away!...well not necessarily for our husbands - i'm sure they'd love to keep it all at home! Give me a call next time you're making butter tarts; i have a very simple recipe and people tell me they're great! see you @ mom and dad Sieb's. we're coming up on the 30th.
