Close to Home

You know that ambulance ride? The really costly one that would bring Judah closer to home? I got to ride with him and the team to Calgary today. We hope we don't get a bill in the mail, because we told the doctor if we had to pay for it we would rather drive to Red Deer for a few more weeks. No, he won't be in hospital a few weeks longer (we hope), but I think she got the picture. I don't know what kind of strings she pulled or people she knew, but it was amazing.

When I got in the ambulance today I turned to the nurse and said, "So you brought up a baby from Calgary to here today?"

"What baby from Calgary?"

"Oh I heard that you were bringing a baby up to Red Deer today and that's why this transfer happened."

"No, we didn't bring a baby up." She turned to the respiratory guy. "Did you hear about a baby we were suppose to bring up?"

"No, did they forget to tell us?"

"I sure hope not, I don't want to make this trip twice today."

The trip up was against extremely gusty winds that we had a weather warning issued for. They blew us straight back to the Rockyview Hospital in south Calgary!

Yes, you heard it here first. A miracle occured today and we were able to get Judah brought here to Calgary. He weathered the trip very well today by sleeping in the rocking ambulance. He was so comfortable I wondered whether he will someday become a paramedic.

So, he's here now. How is he feeling??? Well, his breathing is about the same as yesterday, but they have removed the tubes from his nose. He is now breathing air in all by himself without help. His heart rate has remained steady where we like it to be and he looks sooooo good. He does have some jaundice and so they have him tanning under some bright lights. You should see the sunglasses they gave him. He's also a little bruised and swollen. Maybe Mark will update some pictures as he relented to blogging peer-pressure and purchased a digital camera today... if he can figure out how to use it!

This is how Judah looked when he arrived in Calgary. Too cool, eh?

Aslynn cried last night. We weren't sure if it was a nightmare or if she just misses us and was afraid we weren't here again...

Oh, oh, oh, I am soooo happy for you guys! Been praying all day long about that ambulence thing. And no nose tubes? Praise God, hallelujah, praise His holy name. Cannot wait to see him. I know you're tired, Mark, but I'd better be seeing pictures tomorrow!
