Micah & Aslynn's Misadventures

Aslynn's Bedroom Escapades
Last Monday, Aslynn was talking loudly after she was in bed, so I went upstairs to shush her and found her like this: she's sitting up in her bed and her sleeper was buttoned down so she looked like one of the guys from KISS. She managed to get the left side of her diaper free and the right side slid down far enough to not technically be wearing it. In the foot of her sleeper I found her soother (not the first time this has happened!). She looked at me in a rather bewildered way when I entered her dimly lit room. Turkey.

Tonight she was quiet and I thought she was asleep! She had a major project going on, however. I went in and found her teddies, some of which are still larger than she is, piled on her bed. She, however, was not in the bed, but spying through the crack of her door. I opened the door to her rushing back to bed saying, "No 'pank!!" and handing me her soother. It's really hard to discipline your children when what they're doing is so cute and laughable. I opted for the soother and returned it to her shortly afterwards. We've now had to close Micah's and Aslynn's doors so she doesn't sneak in to his bedroom and/or keep him awake with her incessant jabbering.

Micah's Love
"Look Mommy, Daddy - Judah's hugging me!"

Yes, he had permission to hold Judah. Judah just realized that he ought to hold on for the ride. Aslynn seems to forget the fact that he's there and leans on his face with her hand on her way to us. Not Micah. Not protective, body-guard Micah. He loves him so much. He was so thrilled that Judah sucked on his finger while he was shopping today and let everyone know.

"Can I hold him, again?"
"Yes, Micah. Just make sure you hold up his neck."

Wouldn't the health nurse have a fit? She came by today. The kids were all sleeping, except Judah who was woken to a stethoscope, thermometer, and nakedness for the weigh scale. Poor guy. I guess he's used to being poked and prodded, but he sure hates lying there on the scales. The nurse thought he was doing just fine. I think we knew more about his conditions than she did, and she's been a community health nurse for over 11 years. That's okay. We've had a crash course and it's all fresh in our minds. They've been some of the only things on our minds...

Micah also got his mouth washed out with soap twice (no, thrice!) this week for lying to me. He's getting good. Almost too good. He likes to blame his friends for things he's done weeks after they were there last. Or they haven't been there at all. Or, of course, it was Aslynn. Yeah, no. I don't think so. You want to give him the benefit of the doubt on some, but others you know there's no possible way it was anyone else. We're talking mostly broken toys here and there. His attitude has improved today, at least. The past few days have been atrocious! And we feel responsible - like it's our fault because we just haven't been there physically, and when we were there, we were absent in other ways.

Micah-ism for the week: "Daddy, my legs are bored."
