We started this tradition back in Philly when we brought Micah 'home' to our hotel. We wanted to celebrate somewhere half-decent, so we went through the phonebook at the hotel. There were a lot of entrepreneurs with little restaurants and such, but we'd already gagged down some bland Chinese food at one such establishment and didn't want to be disappointed again! So - the first real restaurant we found in the Yellow Pages was - Applebees! And off we went, giving Micah his first taste of Coke at five weeks old.
Aslynn continued the tradition when she graced the only Applebees in Calgary with her presence at one day old. Everybody marvelled at how tiny she was and how good Faith looked. It was hard to tell complete strangers that she hadn't delivered Aslynn, and we tried figuring out if they meant she looked good for a recently pregnant woman who just gave birth, or, she just looked good... we found it all amusing and fun, and tried not to laugh to hard when they passed by.

Today was Judah's turn to wow the staff and patrons at Applebees. He was so covered in blankets in his carseat most people hardly noticed. He caught the eye of a few ladies who seemed interested in picking him up. Way to go, buddy! Already a ladies man. He slept through most of it though. He's pretty exhausted from being at the hospital and trying to impress the doctors so he could come home.
The kids ordered the Honey BBQ Boneless Chicken Wings, I had the Honey BBQ Sandwich, and Faith had the Honey BBQ Riblets. See a theme happening here? Whatever. Judah didn't order anything. And no, we didn't give him Coke. We don't want him to end up in hospital again. They give caffeine to the kids in the NICU and SCN who's heart rates are TOO SLOW. He has the opposite dilemma. No pop or coffee for you, boy!
Altogether they were a handful, but it was a good time...

Applebee's® was founded in Atlanta, Georgia, by Bill and T.J. Palmer. The Palmers envisioned a restaurant that would provide full service, consistently good food, reasonable prices and quality service in a neighborhood setting. Their first restaurant, T.J. Applebee's Rx for Edibles & Elixirs,® opened in November 1980.
