We went to the Global Fest Exhibition in Calgary on Friday night. It was Spain's turn to 'wow' everyone with their display of fireworks to music. They did a wicked awesome job! We really enjoyed the sights and sounds; it was breathtaking at times. There were combinations of fireworks that I'd never seen put together in one blast in the sky or so beautifully matched to the music and elegantly flowing. Who'da thunk you could say 'elegant' and 'blast' in the same sentence?
The kids loved it too. Judah stopped drinking his bottle to coo and awe at the spectacle, intermingled with squeals of delight and joy. He was really into it. He was grinning ear to ear and couldn't take his eyes away for even a moment. Micah sat on my lap and Aslynn with Faith. Micah was giving a running commentary on the best ones and wondering what the foreign words in the music meant and so on and so forth. Aslynn just couldn't sit still. When can she? Joy & Brian, Noah, Shayla, Len, & Berneda were all there and experiencing it all with us.
Prior to this we got ripped off for the bus ride there and back. The kids loved the ride though, especially since they won't have much opportunity to ride one Faith & the kids and I and others wandered the grounds smelling the sumptuous flavours of the mini donuts and funnel cakes and roasted corn. MMMMMMM-mmmmmmm! So good! And Aslynn got a tattoo and face painting and such. No worries, neither was permanent. They played on the playground and ran the hills and had a generally good time before sitting down and taking everything else in. It was sweet. We are really grateful for our family - our whole family. We're almost spoiled to have what we do.
Like our friends too. We actually (sorry!) cancelled lunch on some of our friends because the fireworks were moved to Friday from Thursday and we had already purchased the tickets. It rained Thursday, and it's good we didn't go since Faith, Aslynn, and Judah all fell sick (think I had a touch today) and Aslynn threw up a few times.
Tonight we had a bunch of friends over for a barbecue and laughed and joked and talked and had an awesome time. We're going to miss you guys. Things just haven't been the same going to church elsewhere and we don't want to lose touch. Hope you get a chance to drop by and see us in Caronport sometimes. That would rock.
We move in less than a week. Wow. Are you sure we're ready? I don't know. All I know is that this feels right with a whole lot of wrongs going on around us. The housing market is plummeting as we speak and people just aren't buying until it levels off. God, please help us. We're stressed enough as it is. Help. We're gonna miss this place and these people.
