Micah's Predicament

We were over at Jon & Ang's house the other night (new friends) and after a lovely meal we had all settled down on their couches to chat. Of course, the kids were running around like crazy people. Vacuuming this, bumping into that, passing awkwardly through the trailer hallways, yeah, it was funny. But loud. The kids were making such a ruckus.

Our hostess had been fighting a headache all day, and this was all adding to it. So I did something about it. I got the bright idea to put chairs by the entrance of the living room and just to be extra safe I grabbed some of those little spongy children's chairs for padding. You know, in case they came flailing wildly around the corner and couldn't stop on the linoleum. My plan worked for a few minutes, but was soon foiled as the kids began breaking through and around. It was just another fun thing, and now they were attracted like flies to a spider's web. Or is the saying 'bees to honey'?

Well, Micah being the most creative (or is it thoughtless?) of the kids decides to slide through the hole in the backrest of the chair feet first. Much to his surprise, he slid freely from his toes to his torso and past his shoulders to his noggin. And there he stopped. And panicked. For you see, his head was slightly larger than the rest of his body and he had wedged his ears between the cushion and the backrest. At first I thought he had gone in head first because of the position of his body, so I started turning his head and tried to pry him through the rest of the way. No good. So we tried the other way. Not happening. About when we considered reaching for a screwdriver, Jon was able to budge him free while I held the chair in place, and Micah came back through - ears, shoulders, torso, legs, and feet - to his relief.

I wounder what he'll get into next?
