Medicine Cake

We have done a lot of travelling lately. Not this week, this week we are stuck. I mean we are enjoying some quality time here in Caronport. We had to import people to help make it quality time. (I'll tell you about that tomorrow) I just have to get this blog off my chest. Aslynn comes up with some interesting terminology for things that we see while driving to Calgary and back. I guess because of the lack of scenery the kids have to get a little creative. Our kids get full points for creativity. We often drive through Medicine Hat. Aslynn use to call it Medicine Cake. We don't know why. Maybe she just was hungry, or maybe the big tepee reminded her of a cake I might make for her birthday one time. You guys all know what tepee I'm talking about don't you? When you drive through Medicine Hat this is what you see.

I always wondered why it was there. I'm sure you did as well. Well wonder no more. This tepee was built in 1988 for the Calgary Olympic games and resided right above where the flame was burning through the games. When the Olympics were over it was transported today to where is stands now. Proudly decorating the hills of Medicine Hat. It's kind of a fun thing to watch for while we drive and marks the halfway point for us.

When we moved near Moose Jaw Aslynn use to get confused as to which town was Medicine Hat and which one was Moose Jaw. (The names are soooo similar. - read sarcasm here)

One day though as we were driving into Moose Jaw Aslynn says, 'look Mommy a Medicine Hat!'. 'No Sweet' I replied, 'this is Moose Jaw'. 'I know Mommy, I see a Medicine Hat!'. 'No you don't honey,' 'Yes I do'
Follow this conversation with many tears on Aslynn's part and threats on mine, the van tires squealing, and Mommy stopping and turning around and trying to find out what was wrong with Aslynn.
'Look Mommy, a Medicine Hat!!!' This said through tears.
The Mommy finally decided to look out the window and sees this....

A Medicine Hat. I can't convince her that it's any different than the one in the town of Medicine Hat. In her two year old mind this is a medicine Hat, and so are all the other buildings we see that look like this.

Want to know what else we see as we drive? Well there is the castle....

I can't wait to move in, maybe Aslynn will let me borrow her turera when we visit the princess who lives in that castle.

Our big thing up in Rainbow Lake was turns. "How many turns left to High Level?" There were ten. Also, the two older boys, when learning to count, would say "...eight, nine, ten, high level, twelve, thirteen..."
