How do you go from 27 degrees Celsius to minus 4 in a week? How do you go from wearing shorts to shoveling snow and building snowmen that fast? It is astonishing what weather you can have in Canada. I hope we can get our toys in from under that thick blanket of snow. I don't want them sitting out there all winter long. I still haven't wrapped up the garden hose because I was planning on spraying the dust off of the side of the trailer following our recent gale. It's probably frozen solid. I checked our heating tape as well. The rest of the water lines should be fine.
I'll post photos tomorrow so you can see the contrast. Oh dear. Thanksgiving isn't supposed to look like Christmas, is it? It almost felt that way - the meal, the snow, the playing games and relaxing. It was a good weekend. Faith's family minus Brian, who was out hunting, came to spend a few days in Caronport. It was almost shock-worthy when they entered the new and improved trailer. They all saw it when we moved in and helped clean the grime from the walls and such. Such a change.
I guess we're in a very different place right now than we were a year ago. It feels like we might actually have some normal in our lives at the moment. Still, we're looking ahead to what is next and there seems to be so much to do. Besides installing windows on the trailer, we're talking about work and where to live and so many other important things. Though things are stable right here right now, there's always that expectation (or is it dread) of what is coming next. I guess attitude and experience shapes your perspective, right?
Whatever comes, I just hope it's like the snow. It may be drastic. It may be very different. It may bury us. But everything looks so much cleaner, so much nicer, so crisp and new when the snow comes. I'm not sure if I'm ready for winter yet, but there's the hope of spring around the corner when it does come. Bring on the snow...
