Luke & Carmen's Property

While we were in the Grande Prairie area we had many great opportunities to see some of my siblings. It was a lot of fun going out to see Carmen and Luke's wilderness retreat before their house arrived. It's awesome! Just minutes north of Dawson Creek in a less than secluded area of farmland and forests you will find a getaway like no other. As of now, the driveway has been built, the septic pool dug, the basement dug (hopefully), and the power has been run. Here's the view from the top (by Carmen)...

And I was sorry that I didn't take any pictures out at the cliffs where their waterfall runs in the spring. It's at least 30 feet tall and empties into a pool at the bottom which is also fed by a natural spring. The weird thing was that you'd never even know it existed unless you wandered into the bush one day and went, "Oh look, a waterfall!" Otherwise, you might just walk off the ledge and never talk again because, well, you know. I would have taken a picture of our kids all cuddled into the overhang of the cliffs, but I thought holding on to Judah and ensuring Micah and Aslynn's safety was more of a priority.

Explorer Judah just walked right on out into the cutline and kept grabbing foxtails and whatever else looked new and exciting to show to Mommy. The wild raspberries were plentiful - if only I could have eaten some without dying I would have liked to have had some. Instead of doing something stupid like eating something I know I'm allergic to, I tried playing my new Zune in their holiday trailer and electrocuted myself and tripped the breaker. Then we couldn't figure out why my brand new toy wouldn't play music. It's okay, we figured it out eventually (once my brain recovered from excessive electrical stimulus causing eccentricity).

The food was great and we had a lot of fun. The kids loved jumping on the trampoline, exploring, and riding the quad. I think Micah would do well in a place like that, especially if he was near cousins and friends who he could hang out with. And Judah wouldn't be that far behind. He is only two, after all. I think we all seem to forget how young he is still. I think he would be great at getting lost and thinking he knew exactly how to get home. That reminds me of stories that my mom would tell about her brothers getting lost in the bush. HA! I'm sure I wouldn't be laughing if I knew my kids were lost and didn't know which way was home.
