Judah Speaks Out

Judah has really come into his own recently. Ever since March or April his speech has really improved and grown up. Sometimes he is incredibly articulate. You can usually tell what he means by his expressive face, but it's hilarious to listen to him 'do voices'. He plays with this high, squeaky voice when talking for an animal or a baby or just "because" (which is his new favourite word - evil!). He also does this low and growly voice for giants, monsters, or even mocking Daddy when he's mad. He's also gotten into this habit of repeating people when he's already in trouble. The boy just does not know when to quit! If he has the older two laughing because of something he said, he keeps pulling out that card all day long, saying the same thing and changing the way his voice sounds to get an even bigger laugh. What a turkey. Is it nature or nurture? Or birth order or personality? Whatever combination of those things he is, it's T-R-O-U-B-L-E.

While we were up north, Judah had some quotables that were just too good not to share. When you read these, you have to imagine that you're listening to an upset two-year-old who pauses between each syllable for effectiveness:

At Chad & Christalee's place, the kids were having a great time playing inside and out, and Judah made the journey in and out of the house often. However, on one occasion he 'forgot' that it was a step down from the door to the back steps and landed pretty hard on the concrete. Christalee went over and asked him "Are you okay, Judah?" to which he responded -

"I AM NOT ALRIGHT!" It was as if he was offended that she would ask such a question knowing full well that he had obviously injured his knees, or at least his pride. Then he got up and kept on going into the back yard (I believe). Crazy boy.

I don't remember what it was that he did at Mom and Dad's place, but he had hurt himself again somehow. Probably his arch-nemesis, the sidewalk. He came inside crying. When we scooped him up, he commented between sobs,

"I'm bleeding - I have to cry!" It was sweet and funny all at the same time. Poor guy.

I think he plans on being the family comedian. He reminds me of my younger brother Luke, to be honest. Judah knows exactly which buttons to push when it comes to laughs and utter annoyance. He stands in front of the TV just to get a rise out of Micah. He will take the toy Aslynn has set down for just a second before that "she was playing with" so he can be a part of the action. He will say the craziest things so that he can diffuse the situation, even when he's in trouble (which usually gets him into far more trouble because he can get disrespectful). Look out! We're going to have to watch this one. As long as he doesn't tell tall tales like his sister...
