It was almost a magical day. Minus the magic, of course. Add some of God's little blessings, and you've got it covered. we always have a plan when coming to Stampede, especially when it comes to getting stuff free and getting good seats. We were in the doors early for a pancake breakfast at the Grandstand, and from there we hoofed it over to the Stampede Corrall (the old Flames arena) to watch Elvis Stojko and a bunch of other skating stars performing with a live rock band and other acrobats. It was a really cool show, even though we had to wait a long time to see it (and got kicked out of our seats for the warm-up). During the wait I took the kids to get their faces painted and wound up getting tickets for the Superdogs (which was a new way of doing things with them in a new location). They were sold out for the day by the time we got back there for the performance.
This is us in the Saddledome watching the Heavy Horse Competition.
The kids had trouble keeping their hands off of the animals in the barns. Who can blame them?
They also got all countrified on us. Nice hats. You too Judah.
This is a shot of the Acrodunks in action. They were on America's Got Talent last year.
And we also got to see Keith Sayers and a number of X-Games Freestyle Motorcross competitors.
And this is Micah watching (instead of experiencing) sheepshearing.
All in all we spent around 12 hours on the grounds for a wild and wooly time.
