Cake Time

A few weeks ago I had the privilege of being able to make a birthday cake for another family. They were the ones who bought my cake at our fundraising auction in the spring and had a birthday coming up. The mother asked me Wednesday night if I could do a cake for her son's birthday on Friday. She had two different ideas; a motorbike, or a drum set. With such short notice I opted for the drum set as I knew it would be much easier to do in one day. I make the cake on Thursday and got it 75% complete while Mark was at youth group that night. I would have finished it, but I ran out of icing. So Friday I ran to the store, got more icing, finished the cake, drove to Leduc to deliver a gift to some friends of ours, packed for our weekend in Grande Prairie for Nathan's wedding, picked up the kids from school, and then delivered the cake to the family here in town. I was extremely nervous about it. I don't make perfect cakes that you can find on any of those fancy TV shows. I make kids birthday cakes, they aren't perfect, they are just fun. The family though was extremely happy with the cake I made. It was fun to deliver it to people who were so appreciative. I know Joy has been wanting to see pictures so here they are.
