You've noticed that we have not posted articles recently on our blog. Most of you have likely either given up waiting for the next story or may believe we left the planet. I assure you, our feet are most certainly grounded. But I don't have any good story as to why we haven't posted. We are hearing death rattles from our laptop. And the power supply *sigh* was once again severed. Since there is no salvageable battery (it lasts maybe a minute, two if we're lucky), we had no opportunity to remove the remaining files that we hadn't already backed up. It wasn't very many, but pictures are important to us. You know how it is - so many memories attached to an image so easily lost or forgotten. So when I don't have any good story, I may have a bad one.
I'd bribe the computer to keep going if I could. I should have removed the information when I noticed the power light flickering. We've replaced the adaptor once and had a new end put on it once by a friend, so we should have recognized the signs. The computer isn't running like it should anymore. And to all you Mac fanatics (I'm writing this on one out of sheer necessity) it isn't because it's a PC. It's time has come.
When it comes time to bury it, are computers generally male or female? Do they have a soul? A personality? Should they have a name other than those we call them when they do not do what they are supposed to or lose something that is valuable to us? All of these keep running through my mind as I search for a replacement online on this infernal MacBook Pro that was resuscitated by a Mac Expert once not so long ago. O technology! What a crutch you have become that I would post such a bitter diatribe about you!
(I am going a little crazy - December was a busy month and my mind finally jumped a cog into January - and it's almost over already...)
