Event Cooking and Crazy Husbands

If you read our recent post "A Dog Day", that was just the beginning of the madness. Mark had a slightly amusing schedule that resembled "Rainbow Brite Puked All Over My Calendar".

There was a funeral on Friday, Highway Clean-Up on Saturday, and Young Adults on Sunday. All of which I had to make food for. And, wouldn't you know it, Mark was involved in or leading these events. At least on Thursday I didn't have to make anything for youth - no, instead Mark made me cook for company on Wednesday night. For Friday I had to bring desserts to the funeral, so I donated a cake and dessert made from cake mixes given to us on Wednesday that included colouring that we could not eat. Saturday was Cinco de Mayo, so I made the fixings for tacos with real steak and chicken, guacamole, cilantro, sauteed onions and peppers, lettuce, tomatoes, salsa, cheese, and so on and so forth. Plus desserts: S'more Pie and a different spin on Lemon Meringue. And cinnamon buns for snacks for the youth while they were out picking garbage in the ditch. And then for Sunday I had burgers for the Young Adults because frankly, I was cooked out. The desserts were left-over from the Highway Clean-Up. The only thing I really had to make was the salad - and pull out everything for fixings on the burgers.

It was plenty. And now I have to make something creative for a bake sale for Judah's school, and I must say that I'm out of ideas, motivation, and really just want to curl up in a tiny ball in my bed and sleep for the next few days...

OH MY! Why have you been left with all the cooking responsibilities? Couldn't the church people step up and help out on those days? That would do me in for sure. If you want an easy bake sale item I have got the fudge brownie recipe for you. It's easy and GOOOOOOD! Let me know. peppy@mcsnet.ca

P.S. You deserve a medal---thank you for being such an amazing wife, mother and daughter-in-law!
