Our neighbour Jen said she had her best Micah moment the other day.
A bunch of the neighborhood kids came by to play with Micah last Sunday afternoon. Yes, he's a popular guy and yes, our yard gets used a lot. (We're beginning to think we should move somewhere else in town - bigger yard, fewer knocks on the door.) The kids asked if Micah was able to come and play.
Micah looked at them intently and said, "It's Father's Day."
They all stared at him. One of them piped up, "So, does that mean you aren't allowed to play with us today?"
"I probably am. But I am going to spend today with my dad." They stood and stared some more.
Micah waited them out. It was as if it had never crossed their minds, like they weren't getting it, said Jen. He eventually gestured for the kids to 'move along' because they were stunned by his brilliance.
Shortly thereafter we all came out of the house and went for an 8 km bike ride with a stop at DQ 3/4 of the way through. It makes me think of my parents and how we used to go biking from Muskoseepi Park to Bear Creek Park and back in Grande Prairie and how they would treat us sometimes.
Happy Father's Day, everyone.
