This morning we spent time with Steve and Shauna and Elijah and Levi at their church in Cranbrook. People there kept asking me why I didn't play guitar and lead worship for the service - honestly, I thought Steve and Shauna were joking since we never actually talked about it :-) The kids had a good time and we brought KFC home for lunch. According to Ahmed, the Iraqi who was boarding with them this fall, it's typical Middle Eastern fare. Always good to know that we are expanding our horizons.

There is a down-side to eating KFC chicken. Judah's behaviour became more and more noticable the further down the road we got. Fortunately when we arrived at the American border, he had taken enough photos with the kid-cam to quell his eccentricities momentarily while the guard opened his door and deemed us fit to cross into Idaho.
It's a nice drive following the little lakes and rivers in northern Idaho and Washington. We went through Sandpoint on our way to Spokane. Judah's mouth just kept on yammering incessantly about anything and everything in the most irritatingly pitched voices. No talking orders were handed out among other punishments.
We were ready to eject ourselves from the vehicle by the time we hit Spokane. I watched our hotel pass by while Faith and I were lost in musing about the stores and restaurants we were passing by and the memories some of them hold for us. After turning around and checking in, we took the kids to the IHOP and ordered. Partway into the meal Judah states that he hates pancakes and proceeds to choke on his own (
insert nastiness here) as I rushed him to the washroom. He did this twice more, the final one landing on Faith and himself. Ick.

Needless to say Judah went straight to bed while the other kids went to the pool with me and let off some energy. Aslynn made friends with a little East Indian girl in two seconds. We played tag, launched off of Daddy's shoulders, cannon-balled, and had a pretty good time while Faith missed out with the little monster.
