Aslynn was exactly where she needed to be level wise. She did fantastic last year and kept up this year. She passed into the next level. I think that she may not pass as easily next time though. Even though she can do what she needs to do she is just not as physically strong and I anticipate that she will have problems with the longer swims in the upper levels. She often likes to stop and put her feet down to breath and wipe the water out of her eyes. She enjoys it though and we want to take advantage of that while we can.
Judah is a little fish. Because he is not yet six we couldn't officially put him into a level. So last year they put him in the very first beginner level. And that teacher must have been very rule orientated because she told us to move him up one level. And one level only. So I put him in this year a little hesitant because I knew that he was above where I was putting him, but didn't have very many options. He got the best teacher, and class. There were only three boys in his class. One of which was gone for half of the classes. So there was one teacher and two boys most of the time. Oh.. and his class had a volunteer with them the whole time. He pretty much got one-on-one lessons this year. Which was what he needed. Judah's teacher quickly realized that he was way above the level he was in and was able to teach him at the level that he can actually swim at. At the end of the lessons he told me not to mess with the next few levels and just bump him up. I told the teacher that as he was turning six in the winter that I was just planning on moving him into Level 1 next year. His teacher told me not to bother with Level 1 but just to put him into Level 2. Apparently the boy can swim, and has a good stoke for a five year old. He was pretty pumped that he gets to 'skip' so many levels.
Both boys skipped levels this year, which everyone was pretty happy about until Aslynn realized that she didn't skip a level she just passed them in the normal way. She got over it though when she realized that she is still above where Micah was at her age, and we bought them all smoothies at Booster Juice. The perfect end to reward them for a hard two weeks of work.
