Overnight Relief

Faith and I are at the hospital again together, this time without the pleasant distractions of Aslynn and Micah. We're realizing that there are so many other stories that we haven't shared yet, so perhaps we'll do that during those early morning feedings that Judah is going to want once we get home. The timing on going home still isn't a sure thing. On Thursday the doctors were telling us it may possibly happen by the weekend, Saturday or Sunday, and today they're telling us likely Tuesday with the possibility of a release Monday afternoon. They would make great weathermen! I trust their decisions. I wouldn't want to bring him home any sooner than they thought he was ready. We already feel like we depend on those monitors enough to know what is going on and want to take one home with us.

Judah had another episode yesterday which lasted 17 minutes, but he corrected it himself. Last time, Faith was here and they put a bag with cold water and ice cubes on his face and sat him up quickly. And then repeated it! That worked. They want him to go 48 hours without an episode where his heart is wildly beating. We want to be sure that the medication he is on is working as well before we bring him out of the caring and capable hands he's in now. Again, we thank God for Alberta Health Care.

We went to church this morning and felt like we were missing part of our family, which of course we were. So many people asked how he and we were doing and others didn't know what to say. People have brought us food for supper a few nights already and so many people are praying for this little boy. Our guest speaker this morning (taking my place because I was supposed to preach this morning) was privy to the details as well and was a real encouragement. But we were so distracted. It's hard to be somewhere when part of your heart is somewhere else...

Faith is spending tonight with Judah. She gets her own special room with him. I'm at home with the kids. She'll probably see this from there and respond or add to it or something. Love you, Faith.

Reading all about the craziness and intensity that is your lives these days is like watching an episode of "Grey's Anatomy" or something... ;)

We keep praying for your little guy and appreciate the updates - the photos are wonderful!!

I hope you both get a chance to get some good rest and be with your (whole) family soon...

Love you,
Joy
