This is where Heather and Jim and Faith and I have often stayed while in Edmonton. Hidden away in Whitemud Park next to the Whitemud Creek below the Snow Valley Ski Hill is a well-treed and kempt campsite that is affordable (under $30 per night), accessible (right off of Whitemud Drive), and clean. The hot water may be only warm, but you don't pay extra for showers. Unfortunately, they have those silly box-stoves instead of firepits, so roasting anything is a little complicated. The boys landed a ball in the creek at one point, so I had to wade in and go fishing. Aslynn got lost in the woods on her way back since I was on the far bank and looking for a place to ford the "raging waters". It is never boring with our kids.
Another note: anywhere we've been, the rainclouds have followed. We got thundershowers every night we were in Edmonchuck. One evening we left out Micah's sleeping back and, well, it got soaked. Good thing there was an industrial dryer there. Camping with some amenities nearby is always handy. This is our base of operations, our sanctuary from the honking horns, blaring sirens, and screeching tires high above (there was an accident on the overpass one morning). It is a great place to be. And we had a lot of fun...
